Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds is London’s famous wax museum that displays realistic statues of real life actors, singers, leaders, politicians, athletes, presidents, fantasy characters, members of the Royal Family and other famous figures from all over the world. You can take pictures with your favourite celebrities, imagining as though you have actually met them.

The unique and very entertaining museum is a must-see while you’re in the city. The attraction consists of a ride in London’s iconic black taxis. The Spirit of London ride guides you through the history of London from Tudor England to the vibrant colours of the 1980s before continuing your journey through the museum. Before leaving you will enter the hall with the green dome that can be seen from outside the building, distinguishing Madame Tussauds from the rest. This dome was formerly known as the planetarium and is now used to play a short 4D movie about the Avengers, exclusive to the museum. Madame Tussauds, situated in Marylebone, also has many other attractions nearby. Baker Street, based just around the corner, is where the house of Sherlock Holmes and the Sherlock Holmes Museum reside; the street also features a variety of restaurants to choose from. The picturesque Regents Park is just a short walk away and so is the amazing London Zoo.

Marie Tussauds born in 1761 in France, was taught the wax modelling skills by Dr. Philippe Curtius for whom Marie’s mother used to work as a housekeeper. Marie created her first wax sculpture in 1777 and opened the museum in 1835 when she settled down in Baker Street.
