General Information

One of the most efficient and fastest ways to get into central London from London Heathrow Airport is via the Heathrow Express, which takes just 15 minutes to get you into Paddington Station.

Timetable

From Monday to Thursday, Heathrow Express departs every 30 minutes after 22:00. Services start at 22:11 from Terminal 4 until 23:26, 22:12 from Terminal 5 until 23:42, and 22:18 from Terminal 2 and 3 until 23:48. 
Please note: a change is required at Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 to connect to the Heathrow Express service to London Paddington.
If you’re arriving at Terminal 2, Terminal 3, follow signs to the Heathrow Express station. From there, take a Heathrow Express service to London Paddington – transfer time is 15 minutes.
In Terminal 5 the station is at basement level and reached by lift or escalator. All trains call at Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 and then run non-stop to London Paddington – total transfer time is 21 minutes.
In Terminal 4, take the free transfer to Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 (departures every 15 minutes, travel time four minutes). From there, take a Heathrow Express service to London Paddington – transfer time is 15 minutes.

When to use the Heathrow Express

If you are traveling alone and don’t have a lot of luggage or you are traveling for a short business trip and you have meetings in central London, then this is the best mode of transport for you.
Paddington Station is at the heart of London’s West End and has excellent connections to the rest of the city by taxi, bus or London Underground (District, Circle and Hammersmith and City lines). So if you are staying somewhere nearby Paddington Station, it is very accessible.

FARES & TICKETS

Standard Single tickets when purchased at Heathrow Airport from the ticket office or the Heathrow Express ticket machines are £22.00 per person and Return tickets are £37.00 per person. (Please note the return journey is only valid within 1 month of the outbound journey).
Children aged 15 and under board for free when accompanying an adult over 18.
You can save with advanced saver tickets and buy them online, which vary from £14.00 single ticket during the weekdays and £9.80 single ticket on the weekend however you have to book online 30 days in advance and these tickets are non-exchangeable or refundable.

If you board without a ticket you can still pay but the fares are increased to £37.00 per person and return tickets are £55.00 per person so be sure to buy before you board. They are frequent and run generally every 15minutes unless you are traveling very early or very late in which case check link on Time table section.

STATION TICKET OFFICE

Tickets can be bought from ticket offices, which are in the arrival halls in terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5.
When you arrive, follow the signs to the Heathrow Express ticket office (which has the Heathrow Express name clearly visible).
At the ticket office, ensure you tell staff whether you want a single or return journey. Staff will guide you and assist your needs.
A single ticket is valid for the date of purchase.
A return ticket is valid for a month after the purchase date.
Your booked ticket (except Advanced Tickets) remains valid for three months of your journey. If your journey is delayed or postponed, or if you accidentally book an incorrect date, you can still use your ticket by changing your ticket to a different date.
Carnet tickets are valid for 12 months from the purchase date. Carnet tickets range from 12 trip offers, such as, Carnet 12 gives you 12 single journeys for price of 9 whilst Carnet 6 gives you 6 journeys for price of 5.

ON-BOARD

You can take the train and buy your ticket on board.
There are payment machines located inside the trains to purchase your tickets.
The only ticket you can buy inside the train is the Express Standard ticket.
You will also be charged in addition when you buy ticket on-board. You will not be able to take advantage of the low fares that are available when purchasing tickets at the ticket office or when you buy online.
Payment is accepted only via Debit/credit cards.

BOOK ONLINE

To book tickets online, go to the website www.heathrowexpress.com.
Select whether you wish to receive your ticket by SMS to your mobile phone in the form of a barcode, or by email as a printable version.
If you choose to receive your ticket by phone: you will receive an SMS message that contains a link with a barcode. The barcode will be scanned by on-board staff. The barcode is also valid for your return ticket.
If you choose to receive your ticket by email, then simply print the email and ensure you have to it to hand, to pass to on-board staff. The printout is also valid for your return journey.
After booking your ticket online, you should wait at least one hour before boarding with Heathrow Express.
The e-ticket that you purchased is transferrable; which means you can transfer it to someone else even if the e-ticket has your name on it.

BOOK VIA THE APP

The app is called 'Heathrow Express'. You can access the app in Google Play, Apple App Store & BlackBerry.
You will receive your ticket via barcode directly to the app, which is ready for the on-board staff to scan.
Apple users can add their ticket to Passbook.
Make sure you create an account and log into the app, in order to get faster checkout and payment process. You will then have access to manage your ticket history and account preferences.
You are able to buy your mobile ticket just 15 minutes before travel.
At the end of the payment process, you will be asked to put your card’s three-digit security code (major payment cards are accepted except Maestro).
